Our Story
The Guzheng Association (Singapore) was established in 2014 with a vision to promote unique guzheng music composition and develop passionate guzheng players in Singapore. Initially, the association was created to provide a platform for students to perform and develop their guzheng skills as we understand that this group of people do not have exposure to performances and opportunities to perform outside of internal school events. Currently, we are moving towards building a community for guzheng enthusiasts, of all ages and background, to experience, appreciate and promote traditional chinese music!
We envision that the establishment of the association would create a space for guzheng players to form a close-knit community and develop guzheng arts in Singapore. We believe that a supportive environment is crucial in the motivation and development of a person’s potential in achieving one’s dream in the music industry. Furthermore, a shared space allows guzheng instructors and mentors to share relevant industry experience to further develop guzheng teaching and performing within our community.

Lim Pei Pei
President
“Building a diverse community with exposure and opportunities for every aspiring Guzheng player allows a deeper understanding of traditional music. Founded in 2014, the Guzheng Association has been engaging the community with the appreciation of the Guzheng arts through concerts and performances. We always believe that music even without words can evoke emotions, laughter and impact a person's life and education. As we continue to groom young talents, we hope to build a strong and supportive community and cultivate a sense of connection to traditional music.”
